A lecturer of "Environmental Protection and Nature Management" Department of Ecocenter and ISEC NAS RA delivered lectures at the Pedagogical University of Kraków

On May 6-12, 2022, а lecturer in Urban environment at "Environmental Protection and Nature Management" Department of Ecocenter and ISEC NAS RA, the scientific coordinator of the program, Gayane Nersisyan, was on a study visit to the Pedagogical University of Krakow, Poland, within the framework of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Program. The purpose of the visit was to deliver lectures on "Urban Greening" in the context of current global climate change.

Throughout the visit, a meeting was held with Johanna, a lecturer at the Department of "Environment Protection and Natural Management" of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, coordinator of the project from Poland and a partner of ISEC NAS RA, with whom it was discussed about University planning urban greening and ecosystem services of trees.

Within the framework of the study program a visit was also organized to the Department of Entrepreneurship and Spatial Management of the Institute of Geography of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, the prospects and possibilities of sustainable cooperation were discussed within the framework of the project in the new context of world changes, especially the new approaches to greening into which the city of Krakow has been very quickly integrated with its new greening solutions, thus contributing to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as preserving biodiversity. In this term, the approaches to the landscape design of urban areas, presented by the students of the "Landscape Design" Department within the framework of the improvement and greening projects, were of relevance and significance.

Meetings were also organized with representatives of the Department of Geography Education and Research of the Institute of Geography, as well as Department of External Relations of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, having been closely cooperating with them for 5 years.

The visit to the city of Krakow was not limited to meetings and discussions with the staff of the University. On May 10, Gayane Nersisyan also participated in the online meeting of Dr. Jana Wengel from the College of International Tourism opened jointly by Haynan and Arizona State Universities, which was aimed at increasing people's involvement in tourist trips in the new pandemic conditions, thus including the component of environmental education, mainly in specially protected nature areas, introducing learners and tourists to the varieties of white and red books, as well as activities aimed at increasing biodiversity.

Within the framework of the project it is planned to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the "Landscape Design" Department. Partnership with the Faculty of Biology of the Pedagogical University of Krakow is currently being discussed, which will create new exciting opportunities for implementation various research works and publication of joint articles.
