On World Engineering Day, as a guest in the Engineering City

On March 4, 2025, recognized by UNESCO as World Engineering Day, members of the Student Council of the International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS RA, on the initiative and accompanied by employees of the Department of Public Relations and Career of the ISEC, visited the Engineering City to congratulate the heroes of the day, to get acquainted with the features of the working environment and academic routine of modern engineers.
The Engineering City is home to one of the youngest departments of the ISEC NAS RA called "Aerospace Engineering". It was founded in 2023 and implements the Master's professional program (hereinafter: PP) "Aerospace Instrumentation".
Representatives of the department, led by the head of the department, Andranik Aghajanyan, and the coordinator of the Department, Nina Hakobyan, the faculty and undergraduates of the ISEC, welcomed the visitors of the ISEC with great willingness and love according to a specially developed program.
After mutual acquaintance, the head of the department, A.Aghajanyan, made an informative presentation, presenting the features of the PP "Aerospace Instrumentation", the achievements of last two years, the ideology and innovative pedagogical solutions applied in the implementation of the PP, as well as, the structure and capabilities of the Engineering City. A. Aghajanyan's speech was accompanied by active and direct questions and answers, constructive discussions․
In a meaningful and interesting speech by the head of the department, the answer to the important question of the day was also highlighted: "Engineers are people who solve technical problems. Us, engineers, use patterns known in fundamental sciences, bring them to life, apply and solve various problems".
The achievements of the students of the department were also presented. It was noted that all Master’s students of the department are already working in their field parallelly with their studies, being enrolled in the Engineering City and other organizations of the industry. Among the numerous successes of the students, the victory of the 2nd-year Master's student Vruyr Grigoryan, registered by the 2024 Pan-Armenian Competition of Innovative Projects and Scientific and Technical Developments of the Ministry of ESCS "100 Ideas for Armenia" in the nomination of "Military Security Systems". Vruyr presented the project "Machine learning for classification of radar targets", which follows from the problems of his Master's thesis (see the interview with Vruyr here: https://www.isec.am/en/articles/news/news_27122024.html).
In response to the questions asked, the students of the department presented some episodes from their Master's theses, which once again confirmed that the ISEC Master's PP "Aerospace Instrumentation" is implemented in accordance with the challenges of the industry, while maintaining student engagement in the field of relevant and applied research.
The visit continued with an introductory tour of various organizations of the Engineering City, the Museum of Science and Technology, which, in fact, was an excursion through the rich pages of the history of Armenian engineering.
The result of the visit was that the Master's program of the ISEC NAS RA "Aerospace Instrumentation" is organizing with the effective cooperation of the faculty and students of the department, and the engineering campus is a very favorable environment for the full development and effective manifestation of their engineering talents.
