Organization of "Mkhitar Sparapet" movie watching at ISEC

Attaching great importance to building comprehensive, multifaceted, and integrated approaches in the learning process of students, NAS RA International Scientific-Educational Center often strives to organize multi-disciplinary events.

On October 7, the Public Relations and Career Department of ISEC NAS RA in close cooperation with the Student Council and the Student Scientific Society, organized a movie watching and discussion for students. The Head of the Department for Political Science, International Relations, and History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Karen Khachatryan was also invited to the event.

During the event the students got a chance to watch the film "Mkhitar Sparapet" directed by E.Keosayan's and based on the similar novel by E. Khanzadyan which is dedicated to national-liberation movement broke out in Syunik in the 18th century. From there on Mkhitar Sparapet was leading a major struggle against Turkish invaders in the Syunik.

The movie was not randomly selected and it conveyed a rather important message, that is, to appreciate the historical past of the Armenian people and value the heroic struggle and contribution of previous generations in the achievement of independence and preservation of statehood of our country, to form responsibility towards own country; these are the most important imperatives in educating younger generation at present.

The movie watching was followed by an active discussion with the students. Professor Karen Khachatryan, the Head of the Department for Political Science, International Relations, and History Department, opened an interesting conversation by drawing comparisons with the events of the 18th century and present realities.

K. Khachatryan referred to the content of the film, the events taking place in that period, presented in detail the historical realities of Armenia in the 18th century and their relations with current events. K. Khachatryan emphasized the importance of organizing such events aimed at raising the level of awareness of students as citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

At the end of the event, Lilit Adamyan, the Head of the Public Relations and Career Department, thanked Karen Khachatryan for joining the movie watching and providing a meaningful discussion for the students. L. Adamyan also promised to consider the initiation of such events more frequently.
