Seminar-Discussion on the Main Contradiction of the Modern Era

February 28, 2024

On February 28, a seminar-discussion on "The Main Contradiction of the Modern Era" was held at the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA, led by political scientist, doctor of philosophy, professor, correspondent member of the RA National Academy of Sciences, Alexander Manasyan.

The seminar was aimed to support the growth of younger generation in civic literacy, analytical skills, and critical thinking. Students from the secondary educational institution as well as Master’s students and graduates attended the seminar. The in-depth analysis of numerous social realities and the emphasis on the fallout from the conflict between the political and economic powers formed the main points of the lecture.

Throughout his speech, A. Manasyan emphasized that the main contradiction of the era - the struggle between the political and economic powers - must be examined in order to fully comprehend in light of their true nature the global processes that are currently occurring on a global scale. It is inappropriate to interpret the conflicts taking place in the world from a single point of view, as war processes have the effect of obscuring or forgetting the political and economic interests and issues beneath the surface of this or that conflict.

Any political or economic program has the capacity to bring about revolutionary changes for any nation if, after a comprehensive review of the current situation, the fundamental causes of the challenges to advancement are determined and workable solutions are suggested. And this is only going to be achievable if the responsible state officials and institutions confront the challenges that are crucial to the nation's development and make them the focal point of discussion.

After a lively question-and-answer session following the seminar, A. Manasyan proposed that the meaningful discussion be continued a week later, with a focus on providing precise solutions to the issues on the agenda.
