Monitoring of the internal quality assurance system at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia

On May 15, the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia hosted the monitoring group of the "National Center for Quality Assurance of Professional Education" foundation, led by Director Ruben Topchyan, Varduhi Gyulazyan, the Head of the Institutional and Programmatic Expertise Department, and Mary Barseghyan, specialist of the Policy Development Department of the ANQA, as well as an officer for the "Voice of the Student" project.
The focal point of the meeting was monitoring of the midterm action plan of the 2022-2024 improvement plan of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
Within the framework of the visit, Armen Sargsyan, the Director of NAS RA, Yerjanik Zargaryan, the Deputy Director for educational affairs, and Naira Hakobyan, the Deputy Director for scientific research affairs, held separate meetings with the members of the monitoring expert group of the ANQA. The new 2024-2029 strategic planning process was discussed, during which Armen Sargsyan, the Director of the Center, introduced the revised and clarified ambitions and the vision of the Center.
The meetings also continued with the heads of the ISEC departments, teaching staff, and students discussing the current situation of human and material resources of the departments, the scope of activities for the dissemination of best practices within the university, improved professional educational programs, including detailed and measurable outcomes at the level of subject programs, teaching, learning, and evaluation methods, as well as assignments given to students in the context of conducting research.
The monitoring of the expert group and the meetings were summarized by the Quality Assurance officers and members of the Directorate. During this meeting, Narine Vardanyan, the head of the Quality Assurance Department, presented the intermediate results according to the improvement plan, as well as the directions and results of the quantitative and qualitative research conducted with the involvement of internal and external stakeholders.
The separate constructive discussions held with the extended staff of the ISEC were quite multi-content and fruitful, during which the questions and suggestions raised by Ruben Topchyan, the Director of the ANQA, will contribute to the further improvement of the activities and strategic planning processes of the ISEC.
