Shoghakat Aroyan is one of this year's graduates of master's program in Law in the distance learning format at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. We talked with Shoghakat about the education she received, her research work, and other topics.

-How would you describe your student years at ISEC?

I can confidently say that my years of study at ISEC were quite intense. This was primarily due to my great interest in the chosen field of study, the diverse teaching methods of knowledgeable and professional lecturers, as well as the rich curriculum. At ISEC, I gained solid theoretical and practical knowledge, which I put into practice both during my internship and professional career.

-Which branch of Law is closest to your heart?

I am particularly drawn to Civil Law and its specific branches. My interest is primarily driven by my work, as well as the legal issues that are directly related to Civil Law.

-What is the topic of your master's thesis, and what research have you conducted within the scope?

The topic of my master's thesis is "State Authority as a Special Type of Public Authority: Its Role and Form."

During the research, I explored the concept of authority, revealing the essence and peculiarities of state authority and defining its distinctive features. I examined the sources of state authority and highlighted its legal regulation in a democratic society. The functional characteristics of state authority bodies were analyzed. In the research part, I studied the emergence of state authority in Armenia, the separation and balance of power. Specifically, I presented the constitutional and legal bases of the activities of state authority bodies, their powers, competencies, and control mechanisms for different branches of power. As a result of these studies, existing issues were identified, and suggestions were made for resolving them and for normative legal regulation of legislative gaps.

-Where are you currently working, and what kind of knowledge is specifically applicable in your job?

Currently, I work at a law firm as an assistant to a lawyer. The knowledge I acquired during my studies, especially from the study of Civil Law and its specific branches, is applicable in my job.

-What other interests do you have apart from work and education?

I enjoy professional reading. When I have free time, I like to travel.
