December 27, 2024

On December 26, 2018, a new auditorium was opened at the A. Takhtadzhyan Institute of Botany of the NAS RA, which will serve to organize the educational and scientific processes of the Master's educational program "Study and Preservation of Biodiversity". This Master's program was introduced this academic year at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS RA, it is unique in Armenia and is already of great interest to applicants, specialists and the general public. By the way, not only the Master's program is new, but also the department that serves it, called "Plant Diversity and Ecosystem Studies".

The opening of the auditorium was funded by the Armenian Relief Fund as a result of the emphasis placed on the application of the recently launched Master's degree program.

Armen Sargsyan, Director of the ISEC, Edik Karapetyan, Director of the Armenian Relief Foundation, Alla Aleksanyan, Head of the new department, Zhanna Hovakimyan, Director of the Institute of Botany, students and other guests attended the opening and delivered a welcoming speech.

The Director of the ISEC, A. Sargsyan, in particular, noted in his speech that the placement of the newly opened ISEC chair at the Institute of Botany was a well-thought-out step based on the need to realize the rich scientific potential of this institute and ensure the science-education relationship. He attached great importance to the opening of the audience, expressing the hope that it would serve its purpose, contributing to the creation of a new educational program and the training of qualified specialists.

The following was noteworthy in the speech of the head of the department A.Aleksanyan: "Since the Institute of Botany still had a scientific focus, we did not have an appropriate educational audience"

The opening of the auditorium brought great joy to the first generation students of the program, who were awarded personal scholarships at the opening of the auditorium, co-financed by 3 organizations: the Armenian Relief Fund, the Caucasus Nature Fund and Soluton.

It is also encouraging that, according to the head of the Department of Plant Diversity and Ecosystem Studies, A.Aleksanyan, the number of organizations willing to finance this educational program is not limited to those mentioned. She also noted that the newly opened auditorium can also serve to organize short-term courses.
