Internal Monitoring of Departments at ISEC: Department of Ecology and Natural Resource Management

April 2, 2025

On April 1, 2025, the monitoring of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resource Management at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS RA (ISEC) was conducted. The process was carried out by the internal monitoring group with the participation of an external expert.

The educational program, which started in 2010, has made significant progress and achieved substantial success, as reflected in the speech and presentation of the department head, candidate of geographical sciences, Lilit Sahakyan.

One of the strengths of the department is its academic staff, which are highly qualified  and are actively involved in various local and international sectoral projects. As noted by the department head in her speech and discussed during the monitoring group's work, the department's most prominent achievement is its international activities, which are expressed through the implementation of joint international projects, defending dissertations abroad, publishing in high-ranking journals, and a rich experience in academic exchanges.

In her speech, the department head presented the methodological tools for organizing the master's educational program "Ecology and Natural Resource Management," including the department's innovative solutions.

It became clear that in working with master's students, the department actively engages in self-reflection, regularly updating and improving its scientific-educational methodology, and responding to recommendations provided by the ISEC Department of Quality Assurance in Education.

One of the successes of the educational program is that all the master's students are already working in their field while studying.

In addition to the achievements, the issues encountered during the implementation of the educational program were also presented, along with their justification and the steps taken to overcome them.

The documents of the educational program were also reviewed. The group members conducted active and constructive questions and answers in accordance with the established points for the monitoring process.

The overall impression was positive, and the findings, along with the remarks, will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resource Management at ISEC.
