New Prospects for Cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in the Field of Education and Science
January 15, 2024On January 15, a meeting with the delegation of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates was held at the RA National Academy of Sciences, headed by the Chair of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the UAE Federal National Council, H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi with the participation of UAE Ambassador to RA, H.E. Dr. Nariman Mohammed Sharif Abdullah AlMulla.
The meeting was jointly organized by the RA National Academy of Sciences and the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA, aimed to facilitate the effective exchange of cutting-edge ideas and practices in science and education between the Republic of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates.
The RA NAS Academician-Secretary, Arthur Ishkhanyan gave the attendees an overview of the meeting program, which included a discussion of the prospects for RA-UAE collaboration in the fields of science and education.
In his opening speech, the President of the RA National Academy of Sciences, Ashot Saghyan welcomed the high-ranking delegation and expressed hope that this meeting would set the groundwork for future strong and long-term cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and higher education to promote partnership between the two countries and establish cooperative relations in science and education.
H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Chair of the delegation of the Federal National Council of the UAE, while welcoming the participants of the meeting, emphasized that the fields of science, education, and the advancement of cutting-edge technologies were the main areas of his attention. He also noted that this meeting provided a platform for the sharing of ideas and enhanced further meaningful interaction.
Director of the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA, Armen Sargsyan, welcomed the guests and delivered a presentation on Master Degree programs offered by the Center, as well as its accomplishments and opportunities for international cooperation with leading universities abroad. He also thanked the head of the delegation for his keen interest in the ISEC. In his speech, A. Sargsyan emphasized that the ISEC NAS RA was an example of a research university, with professional chairs situated in the NAS RA system’s institutes and scientific centers, thus ensuring the interdependence of education and science. A. Sargsyan indicated his willingness to continue working together, stating that he would be open to implementing collaborative research and educational initiatives as well as future programs that would facilitate the sharing of best practices.
The speakers of the meeting also included Areg Mikayelyan, Director of the NAS RA Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, Sahak Gasparyan, Director of the NAS RA Scientific Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Hrachya Ascatryan, Director of the NAS RA Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems, Gor Margaryan, Interim Director of the NAS RA Institute of Oriental Studies, who delivered reports on recent accomplishments and activities of their scientific structures, and indicated possible areas of collaboration.
The members of the international delegation were greatly impressed by the film honoring the 80th anniversary of the RA National Academy of Sciences, which completed the event by briefly presenting the rich history and scientific significance of the highest scientific organizations of the Republic of Armenia.
At the end of the meeting, the UAE Ambassador to Armenia, H.E.Dr. Nariman Mohammed Sharif Abdullah AlMulla expressed his satisfaction with the well-organized discussion and the insightful speeches also emphasizing that the joint cooperation with more specialized professional groups would be continued in the near future.
