Lecturers from Environmental Protection and Nature Management Department Visited University of Tuscia, Italy

The lecturers from "Environmental Protection and Nature Management Department" of ISEC NAS RA, Shushanik Asmaryan and Vahagn Muradyan, PhDs in Geography, visited the University of Tuscia, Italy from 6 to 12 May 2018. In the frames of their visit, Shushanik Asmaryan and Vahagn Muradyan delivered lectures for Master’s and PhD students at Department of Agriculture and Forest Sciences on the following topics: "Application of GIS Technologies and Remote Sensing in Solving Ecological Problems", "Landscape Planning" and "Space and Information Infrastructures and Management" in Armenia.
Together with the Italian counterparts, particularly Prof. Raffaele Casa, the rates of introducing remote-sensing technologies for the development of precise agriculture in Italy  and the development of this sector were discussed during the lectures, as well as opportunities of introducing and applying these technologies in Armenia.
With the company of Prof. Raffaele Casa, the lecturers visited Council for Agricultural Research and Agricultural Economy of Agriculture Ministry of Italy. There they had meetings with the leading specialists of the Center Rosario Napoli and Claudia De Bene to discuss Horizon 2020 FATIMA project, as well as to discuss with Dr. Flavio Lupia the introduction of "GIS and Remote-Sensing Technologies and Precise Agriculture" topic into Master’s degree programs.
With the company of Prof. Raffaele Casa, the lecturers also visited the Barone Ricasoli grape yards in Brolio (Tuscany), where the leading specialist of Council for Agricultural Research and Agricultural Economy of Agriculture Ministry Simone Priori showed the latest achievements of introducing remote-sensing technologies in land mapping, control and monitoring of the environmental state of the vine yards in Italy.
With the company of Dr Antoine Harfouche from DIFAB, Shushanik Asmaryan and Vahagn Muradyan visited the Laboratory of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), where they discussed the application of UAVs in the development of precise agriculture and the processing of the data driven from the UAVs. An agreement was reached to develop joint research projects, in the frames of which the academic staff and the students will enable to get trained in the UAV Laboratory in UAV flight management and data processing.
