Establishment of Doctoral Schools within the framework of ARMDOCT program

The Armenian partners of ARMDOCT program has held an online meeting recently to discuss both the progress of the long-term project implementation and the development of the activities envisaged by the various work packages.
During the meeting, each representative of the partner universities presented the ongoing and incoming activities regarding the establishment and development PhD program/Doctoral schools.
It should be reminded that ARMDOCT program addresses an urgent need in Reforming Doctoral Education (DE) in Armenia in line with theSalzburg Principles with the emphasis on policy, legal framework (including by-laws) and institutional procedures supporting integrative and internationally-oriented doctoral studies involving universities, research institutions andindustry. Each such program sets itself the task of meeting the special needs and challenges of higher education in Armenia, providing students with modern, innovative skills and knowledge necessary to become leaders in their fields.
Narine Vardanyan, Head of the Quality Assurance Department of ISEC NAS RA, made a presentation about the process of formation and development of the cooperative interdisciplinary PhD school. She performed in details current work regarding the "Sustainable Development" Doctoral Program, the document package being developed and the main directions of the curriculum provided by the educational program, also specifying about the possible structure and management bodies of the cooperative doctoral school and their functions.
