What to Do Today? Lessons from the First Republic of Armenia An Event Ahead of the International Students’ Day
November 7, 2016On November 6, 2016, the Students’ Scientific Society of the International Scientific Educational Center of NAS RA and that of the History Faculty of Yerevan State university jointly held a lecture-discussion in the assembly hall of the Institute of History of NAS RA on “What to Do Today: Lessons from the First Republic of Armenia”. The speaker was Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Levon Shirinyan. In his speech he mainly referred to the national identity preservation issue of Armenians drawing parallels between the first and third republics of Armenia. He revealed the gaps existing in the 1918-20s and noted that they should not be repeated today.
The speaker pointed out the existing gaps of the third republic, as well. From his part he offered certain solutions to the issue. During the lecture the foreign policy of Armenia, particularly, the relations with allies and enemies were also touched upon. After the lecture the students and the guests asked questions, which were given satisfactory answers by the speaker.
At the end of the lecture-discussion the Students’ Council of the International Scientific Educational Center of NAS RA jointly with the students of the department of Music Education of Art Education Faculty of Yerevan State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan organized a small event ahead of the International Students’ Day. The conductor of the orchestra was Vard Karapetyan, and the performers – Arusik Yepremyan, Eric Yepremyan, Arus Poghosyan, Onik Hayrumyan, Arman Arustamyan, Gurgen Sanasaryan.
At the conclusion of the meeting the legal adviser of the International Scientific Educational Center of NAS RA Lilit Kharatyan awarded the best and most active students with diplomas.
