ISEC Students Participate in the AMADEE-24 Mars Mission Simulation
March 27, 2024The Austrian Space Forum in cooperation with the Armenian Space Forum, Armenian AeroSpace Agency and a number of other partners kicked off its AMADEE-24 Mars analog simulation in Armenia.
The territory of the village of Armash was chosen as a place for the implementation of the AMADEE-24 Mars Mission Simulation due to its geological and topographical similarities with the Red Planet. A crew of highly trained analog astronauts and scientists will spend about a month at the Mars Station conducting science experiments using various rovers and robotics in preparation for future human and robotic exploration missions to Mars. About 300 scientists from 30 countries are participating in the mission.
The program also involves the students of the "Aerospace Engineering" Chair of the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA, located in the Engineering City, currently participating in the independent scientific experiment of the "Bazumk" space research laboratory in order to study the efficiency of the wind turbine with the innovative solution proposed by the laboratory. This will enable to determine the applicability of using low-power consumers to harvest wind energy on Mars, for example, to power autonomous meteorological stations. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to advance their professional growth in the space industry.
Future ISEC scientists will now have access to the expertise and experience of analog missions due to this project, and when humans set foot on Mars in decades to come, they will be able to look back on this truly historic journey with pride.
