Opportunity to join the Youth Climate Change Council
January 22, 2025Dear students of the International Scientific and Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, we would like to inform you about the information from the UNICEF office in Armenia about the establishment of the Youth Council on Climate Change under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia and UNICEF, which will become a platform for youth to:
• apply their skills and knowledge to policy development,
• discuss climate and environmental issues with experts, decision makers and other stakeholders,
• raise awareness of environmental and community issues and propose solutions.
UNICEF, together with its partners, will provide the board members with the necessary knowledge, skills and platforms for collaboration to work as climate change actors within the framework of the “Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action” . The board will also support UNICEF and the Ministry in mapping and analyzing existing policies, measures, as well as developing recommendations that will make the National Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan (NAP) and other key documents more child-centered and youth-friendly.
The Council will consist of a maximum of 18 members with diverse personal backgrounds and representing different regions.
Interested young people between the ages of 16 and 24 can submit an application until the end of the day on January 25, 2025 (23:55).
