The Second Official Meeting of the AFISHE Program Working Group at the Slovak University of Agriculture

On June 6-7, the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra hosted the second official meeting of the "Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries Education for Green Deal in Armenia and Ukraine: FROM EDUCATION TO ECOLOGY" (AFISHE) Erasmus+ CBHE program, which was attended by the program working group members of the following coordinating institutions: Armenian National Agrarian University, Scientific-Educational International Center of NAS RA, affiliated partner Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, University of Dubrovnik, University of Porto, Slovak University of Agriculture, Sumy National Agrarian University, and the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.
On the first day of the event Dr. Drahoslav Lančacic, Vice-Rector of the Slovak University of Agriculture, made a welcoming speech. The next item on the agenda was a presentation of the activities undertaken by partner universities during the first six months.
Arusyak Harutyunyan, Head of Foreign Affairs Department of ISEC NAS RA, as well as the program coordinator, particularly presented the extensive work performed by the joint working group of ISEC NAS RA and the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA, starting with the organization of the program kick-off meeting and covering the activities of the first working package, including the preparation of a report on benchmarking, meeting with employers, as well as curriculum and program development and presentation of educational outcomes. A particular focus was placed on spreading public awareness about the program, which was covered within the framework of the "Education and Career Expo-2023" international fair, through Public Radio, Public Television and a number of other mass media and information platforms.
In accordance with the program schedule, those in charge of the working packages then presented both the executed and planned actions.
It should be reminded that the overall goal of the "Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries Education for Green Deal in Armenia and Ukraine: FROM EDUCATION TO ECOLOGY" (AFISHE) Erasmus+ CBHE program, implemented jointly by the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA, Armenian National Agrarian University and Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of NAS RA is to decrease the negative impact of aquaculture and fishery industry on the environment in Armenia and Ukraine through the designing and development of Master’s degree programs in aquaculture and fisheries, that is benchmarked to high-quality similar programs in Europe and responsive to national and regional needs, and strengthening the university-enterprise-research cooperation (concept "from education to ecology").
