practical training in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi
On November 20, 2016, first-year students of the department of “Tourism Management” of the RA International Scientific Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences (ISEC NAS RA) spent their first practical training in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi headed by the lecturer and Associate Professor Zara Hayryan.
The objectives of the practical training were as follows: General introduction to tourism infrastructures, a visit to St. George and Echmiadzin Churches, a visit to Z. Tsereteli museum, a workshop on “Hotel Business at “Tbilisi Marriott” Hotel, a visit to the resort town Mtskheta and acquaintance with the local historical and cultural potential.
In Tbilisi the students acted as if they were a tour guide. Each of them had a special task to present a particular infrastructure of the city. The main excursion destinations included the city center, Sh. Rustaveli Square and monument, the monuments to Sayat-Nova and Mantashev, St. George and Echmiadzin churches, Havlabar Street, etc.
“Tbilisi Marriott” hotel staff introduced the hotel services, its digital fund and different types of the hotel rooms to the students.
The given trip was the merge of cultural, cognitive, educational, religious and gastronomic tourism, which increased the students’ knowledge in taking initial steps in organizing similar professional excursions.
