Open Lecture by Armen Manvelyan Takes Place

On September 17, a regular open lecture was held at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (ISEC). This time, the speaker was Armen Manvelyan, PhD in History and international relations expert. The topic of the lecture was "The Geopolitical Situation on the Eve of World War II."
The event was supported by the Polish "Anush Klimczyk" Foundation. The date was not chosen at random: September 17, 1939, was a decisive historical date for Poland in the context of World War II, a point the speaker also addressed during his lecture.
Atom Mkhitaryan, Dean of ISEC, welcomed the attendees, highlighting the importance of the collaboration launched with both the speaker and the Polish foundation. He expressed hope that this partnership would foster new Armenian-Polish bridges in higher education, culture, and other fields.
A. Manvelyan drew notable parallels between the geopolitical situation in Europe on the eve of World War II and the current state of affairs in the South Caucasus.
The lecture was attended by ISEC master's students, alumni, staff, as well as students and professors from other educational institutions. The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, during which the speaker answered questions from the audience.
Also present at the lecture were Polish diplomat Andrzej Klimczyk, President of the Armenian Association of Political Scientists Mihran Shahzadeyan, and Director of the "Anush Klimchik" Foundation Maria Avetyan. The latter delivered welcoming remarks, expressed a desire to establish ongoing cooperation between ISEC and the foundation, and presented a donation of thematic literature.
Notably, as Maria Avetyan mentioned in her speech, the "Anush Klimczyk" Foundation is a social and charitable organization established in 2025, aimed at supporting education, culture, as well as implementing international initiatives.
