RADIK MARTIROSYAN
(May 1, 1936 – May 5, 2025)
At the age of 89, the prominent organizer of science and education, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and Professor Radik Martirosyan passed away.
Martirosyan's scientific work was dedicated to quantum radiophysics, applied problems of superconductivity, space research, and radio astronomy, where he made significant contributions.
Radik Martirosyan also played a crucial role in the management of Armenia's scientific and educational system. From 1993-2006, he served as the rector of Yerevan State University, and from 2006-2021, he was the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. In these roles, he contributed to the preservation and development of scientific institutions.
He was awarded numerous honors, including the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Medal, the first-degree Order for Services to the Homeland, as well as state prizes of the USSR and the Armenian SSR.
The International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the editorial board of the journal "In the World of Science" express their condolences to the family, relatives, friends, members of Yerevan State University, the scientific community, and the wider public who are mourning the loss of a significant intellectual.
