Italian Colleagues Delivered Lectures at the ISEC Department of Geology

May 29, 2026

From May 26 to 27 of this year, the Department of Geology at the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (ISEC NAS RA) successfully hosted a series of lectures and practical workshops by Professors Andrea Petroselli and Salvatore Grimaldi from the University of Tuscia. The visit was conducted within the framework of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility program. The hosting was coordinated by Angela Papikyan, Head of the Foreign Relations Department, and Lilit Sargsyan, Head of the Department of Geology, PhD in Geological Sciences.

ISEC NAS RA shares a rich, multi-year history of diverse cooperation with the University of Tuscia, successfully implemented under various Erasmus+ international initiatives.

The lectures were highly informative and beneficial, skillfully combining theoretical knowledge with practical approaches to modern modeling. Participating students, PhD candidates, and young researchers had the opportunity to work directly with the EBA4SUB, COSMO4SUB, and Virtual Rain models, gaining insights into their applied capabilities and conducting practical exercises.

Of particular significance is that the presented modeling methods can subsequently be applied within the territory of Armenia for the assessment of small and ungauged watersheds, torrents, and natural hazards.

The meetings and discussions took place in an active and productive atmosphere. Both the visiting professors and the students highly praised this format of cooperation, emphasizing its importance for international experience exchange and the professional development of young specialists.
