Media Literacy Week at ISEC: “Green Media Literacy”

On November 12, 2025, the International Scientific-Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (ISEC) and the A. Takhtajyan Institute of Botany organized an event titled “Green Media Literacy.”
The speakers were Mari Chakryan, lecturer at the Department of Plant Diversity and Ecosystem Studies at ISEC, and Mane Madoyan, Program Coordinator at the Freedom of Information Center.
Students from the “Biodiversity Research and Conservation” program at ISEC and the “Environmental Protection and Nature Management” program at ASUE participated in the meeting.
During the event, the importance of critically evaluating environmental information and applying media literacy principles when analyzing it was discussed. It was emphasized that before consuming and sharing environmental information, it is necessary to analyze and assess it, question it, and verify it — thus countering misinformation.
Armenian electronic platforms providing environmental data were also presented.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion between the students and the speakers.
